Reduction of Language Hierarchies
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study the structure of language hierarchies and their reduction by two forms of metacomputation in order to overcome the time and space complexity of language hierarchies. We show that program specialization and program composition are sufficient to reduce all forms of language hierarchies constructed from interpreters and translators. We argue that the reduction of language hierarchies is a prerequisite for effective formal linguistic modeling on a large scale.

Politeness Orientation in Social Hierarchies in Urdu
The present research is aimed at investigating how the politeness of the speakers of Urdu is influenced by their relative social status in society. The researcher took politeness theory of Brown and Levinson (1978, 1987) as a model. To observe politeness of Urdu speakers, speech act of apology with different strategies was selected. A Discourse Completion Task (DCT) was used as an instrument to...
متن کاملUniversit a Degli Studi Isalog (:) : a Deductive Language with Negation for Complex-object Databases with Hierarchies
IsaLog(:) is a research activity aimed at developing a framework that integrates deductive and object-oriented features. The data model has complex objects with classes, relations, and isa hierarchies, and the language is rule based. The main issue is the de nition of the semantics of the language. For the (positive) IsaLog framework three di erent semantics are given and proven to be equivalen...
متن کاملThere is no ordering on the classes in the generalized high/low hierarchies
We prove that the existential theory of the Turing degrees, in the language with Turing reduction, 0, and unary relations for the classes in the generalized high/low hierarchy, is decidable.
متن کاملIsaLog: A declarative language for complex objects with hierarchies
The IsaLog model and language are presented. The model has complex objects with classes, relations, and isa hierarchies. The language is strongly typed and declarative. The main issue is the de nition of the semantics of the language, given in three di erent ways, shown to be equivalent: a model-theoretic semantics, a reduction to logic programming with function symbols, and a xpoint semantics....
متن کاملISALOG- : A Deductive Language with Negation for Complex-Object Databases with Hierarchies
The IsaLog: model and language are presented. The model has complex objects with classes, relations, and isa hierarchies. The language is strongly typed and declarative. The main issue is the de nition of the semantics of the IsaLog: language. The novel features are mostly due to the interaction of hierarchies with negation in the body of rules. Two semantics are presented and shown to be equiv...
